During the rainy season in Costa Rica, it rains almost every day around 3pm until the middle of the night. They don’t call it the “rain forest” for nothing. And this year, perhaps due to climate change, the storms have been much longer than usual.
I walked through the bar at the entrance of my hostel in Dominical to find the workers trying to sweep a lake out of the middle of the room.
As I leave the bar, my friend who owns the bar is pulling up in his SUV with a kayak. He says he wants to go kayaking in the lake that has formed next door in the cattle pasture. So naturally, I put on a life vest and jumped in!
